Clarisights can import CSV files into these custom channel types:
POD and Custom Advertising channels
Custom Analytics channels
Data can be loaded into these channels in any of these ways:
Ad-hoc CSV uploads
CSV attachments in emails
CSV from a URL, or from an SFTP server
CSV files in an Amazon S3 bucket, Google Cloud Storage bucket, or Azure Blob Storage container
Google BigQuery table
Google Sheets
In the case of Google Sheets and Google BigQuery tables, Clarisights reads the data directly from the source, so the format is handled automatically.
CSV format
For the other options, the system that exports the CSV and sends it to Clarisights needs to make sure the CSV is RFC 4180 compliant. Sending files that comply with this standard ensures that Clarisights can process them without issues.
To make your CSV compliant with RFC 4180:
The separator should be a comma and not a semicolon. If your system can only export another separator, contact support before you start sending files.
A field that contains a comma, a double quote, or a line break must be enclosed in double quotes.
A double quote that appears inside a field must be preceded with another double quote.
The first row must be the header row, with one name per column.
To check whether your CSV is RFC 4180 compliant, use CSV Lint.
