Sorting is useful to arrange the data in a widget, based on the dimensions and/or the metrics present in it. For this article, let's consider sorting in a table as an example.

Clarisights supports sorting in three ways - single sort, multi sort and breakdown sort.

When the table has only one dimension and no breakdowns

Single sort is applicable when the table has only one dimension and no breakdowns. This means that you can sort by only one value at a time in this case - either a metric or the dimension.

When the table has more than one dimension

Multi sort is applicable when the table has more than one dimension. This means that you can sort by multiple values at a time in this case - by multiple dimensions or by combination of dimensions and metric.

When the table has one dimension and breakdowns

When you have breakdowns applied in a widget, you can sort each level of breakdown separately, in addition to sorting the primary dimension. At each level, you can sort either by the dimension or a metric.

Note that you can also apply sorting from inside the table directly - in this case, the sort that's most recently applied will be at the top.

Removing any dimension or metric using which a sort has been applied, will automatically remove that sort.
