Data Blending in Clarisights

Data from different sources that share a common dimension can be blended together in a widget of a Clarisights report.

Example

Say there are two data sources, Google Ads and Facebook Ads, and both have the common dimension Country.

Data from Google Ads

  • 1: the rows for United States from Google Ads.

Data from Facebook Ads

  • 2: the rows for United States from Facebook Ads.

  • 3: the rows for Australia from Facebook Ads.

Data after blending (Country broken down by Ad Channels)

The numbers 1 to 4 in the images above show the following:

  • 1 and 2: the rows for United States from Google Ads and Facebook Ads are blended together, as seen in the image above.

  • 3: the row for Australia is only available in Facebook Ads, so the blended data contains only the Facebook Ads data for it.

  • 4: the aggregate of the blended data across both data sources, Google Ads and Facebook Ads.

The metrics used in the images:

  • Ad Spend is a custom metric equal to the sum of spends from Google Ads and Facebook Ads.

  • Ad Revenue is a custom metric equal to the total revenue generated from the ads served.

  • Ad RoAS is the Return on Ad Spend, that is Ad Revenue / Ad Spend.

Advantages of data blending

  • Any data sources can be blended together on the common dimensions they share.

  • Both custom dimensions and standard dimensions can be used for blending.

  • There is no limit on the number of data sources that can be blended in a widget or report.

To blend data in Clarisights, you need to create common custom dimensions in the different data sources. See how to create custom dimensions.
