Connecting ClickMeter on Clarisights

ClickMeter is a click-tracking and link-management platform that monitors, compares, and optimizes marketing links. Connecting ClickMeter to Clarisights lets you blend tracking-link clicks, views, and conversion data into your performance reporting alongside your other paid channels.

⚠ Heads up — ClickMeter is a legacy connector and is on a maintenance footing inside Clarisights. We continue to ingest data for existing customers, but we do not recommend ClickMeter for new integrations. If you are evaluating click-tracking tools, please reach out to your CSM for current recommendations.

Prerequisites

  • An active ClickMeter account at clickmeter.com

  • An API authentication key (also called x-clickmeter-authkey) — generated from the ClickMeter dashboard under My Account → API

  • The login email associated with the ClickMeter account (used as the connection identifier in Clarisights)

Steps to Connect

Step 1 — Generate your API authentication key

Log in to ClickMeter and go to My Account → API. Generate a new API authentication key and copy it. This is the value Clarisights sends in the x-clickmeter-authkey header on every request.

⚠ Treat the API key like a password. Anyone with it can read every campaign and tracking link in the account.

Step 2 — Add ClickMeter in Clarisights

In Clarisights, go to Integrations → ClickMeter → Add Account.

Step 3 — Enter your credentials

Provide:

  • Name — a friendly label for this connection (e.g., your team name)

  • Email — the login email of your ClickMeter account

  • API Key — the authentication key from Step 1

Click Save. Clarisights immediately calls GET /account against ClickMeter to validate the credentials.

⚠ "Accounts couldn't be fetched for this user" → The API key is invalid, expired, or was copied incompletely. ClickMeter does not return an HTTP error for a bad key — it returns an empty account body, which Clarisights surfaces as this message. Re-generate the key in ClickMeter and retry.

Step 4 — Confirm the discovered account

ClickMeter exposes a single account per API key (there is no parent / company-level endpoint). Clarisights surfaces that account with its name, email, and timezone. Confirm the details and the connection is live.

Verify the connection

  • Go to Integrations → ClickMeter. The connected account should show a "Connected" status with its email and timezone.

  • First data appears within ~24 hours after the next scheduled cron run. Today's data is fetched on the first sync; older history is filled in by the daily backfill job.

  • Quick start: create a new report, add ClickMeter as the data source, and add Account · Campaign · Tracking Link · Total Clicks · Unique Clicks · Cost.

Hierarchy

How ClickMeter's native levels map to the standard Clarisights levels:

Native level (ClickMeter)

Group

Campaign (ClickMeter calls campaigns "Groups" internally; the /groups endpoint returns campaign data)

Datapoint (Tracking Link)

Tracking Link — exposed as the lowest reporting level. There is no Ad Group, and Tracking Link is the analogue of an Ad in other channels.

Limitations & known constraints

  • Legacy connector: ClickMeter is on a maintenance footing — we ingest data for existing customers but do not actively expand the integration. New click-tracking projects should use a current alternative.

  • Single account per credential: ClickMeter's API does not expose a parent / company-level account. Each API key represents one ClickMeter account; to onboard multiple accounts, add multiple ClickMeter users in Clarisights.

  • No segment breakdowns: ClickMeter does not expose breakdowns by geography, device, or referrer through the report endpoints we use.

  • Cost calculation is custom: CM: Cost is derived from tracking-link unique clicks using a Mindvalley-specific rule (clicks × 0.65 if the tracking-link name contains a month name matching the report month, else 0). For other customers, Cost will typically be 0 — use Conversions Cost or Commission Cost instead.

  • Currency conversion: only used for cost-style metrics; click and conversion counts are dimensionless integers.

  • Only UTM-tuple matching for analytics joining: ClickMeter joins to Custom Analytics channels via UTM tuples (parsed from the tracking-link URL). Name-based matching is also supported as a fallback.

Operating notes

  • Refresh schedule: daily cron-driven sync of campaigns, tracking links, and reports.

  • Lookback: today by default; longer backfills (last 7 / 90 / 120 / 180 days, last year, beginning, etc.) can be requested through support.

  • Multi-account: each API key maps to one ClickMeter account. Add additional users to onboard separate ClickMeter accounts.

  • Currency conversion: native account currency is preserved on ingest; Clarisights converts to your reporting currency at query time.

  • Credential rotation: regenerate the API key in ClickMeter, then go to Integrations → ClickMeter → Edit Credentials and paste the new key.

  • Retries: API calls retry up to 3 times with a 10-second back-off; persistent errors are captured and surfaced through internal monitoring.
