How to create a Pivot Table?
What is a Pivot Table?
In a typical table, the data usually appear in flat format, meaning that they consist of only columns and rows, as shown below:
While tables such as the above can contain many data items, it can be difficult to get summarized information from them. A pivot table can help quickly summarize the data and highlight the desired information as shown below:
A pivot table consists of row dimension, column dimension and metric (or data ) fields. In the image above, the column dimension is Month, the row dimension is Marketing Channel and the metric chosen in Total Ad Spend.
How to create a Pivot Table in Clarisights?
Step 1 - Choose the widget type as Pivot Table in the widget creation page.
Step 2 - Add the row dimension in the Dimensions, column dimension in the Breakdown and the data in the Metrics.
You can add optional filters and edit the sorting of the table. By default, the both rows and columns are sorted in descending order of metric chosen.
Note: Usually when you choose Time dimensions like Week, Month, you might expect the data to be sorted with Time. But that isn't the default behavior in Clarisights. You will need to explicitly set up the sorting as shown below:
Go to Sort Options and Hover on Breakdown Sort

Other Options:
1. Choose the Number of Columns
The number of columns of the pivot table is restricted to avoid loading a huge amount of data in the table eventually ruining your experience on the dashboard. By default, 30 columns will be shown and all the remaining data will be grouped in the Others column. You can choose the number of columns in the style options.
2. Show Row and Column Aggregate
You will find this under the more options on the Widget edit bar.
3. Show Trends
This option is available under more options on the widget.
4. Show Comparison
This option is available under more options on the widget.
FAQ
When transforming a breakdown chart into a pivot table, the number of rows could be limited and resulting in "missing data". You have to manually adjust the number of items in the top right drop down of the widget.
